TED Global Day Three

I'm enjoying your reports, to use a vast understatement. Thanks for being there for us, as it were. I am struck by a couple of contrary thoughts: the enormity and multiplicity of the problems facing Africa. And the POSSIBILITIES there are of ameliorating them, one seemingly prosaic and insignificant step at a time (well a lot of steps at the same time, one would hope, but we must take what we can get.) Perhaps playing a really fine drum is a way of keeping despair at bay while one gets on with the possibilities.

Another thought: As a confirmed snob, I tend to discount ideas that might have the incidental side effect of making someone rich. China seems to have gotten over that compunction. Indeed, the possibility of one or two people getting rich may be the engine that drives success in many endeavors. I've never been the sort of lefty who would want to replace capitalism with another system. But now I think I'm becoming an ardent capitalist (of a definitely pinko hue, of course.)
Thanks Nick, I'm enjoying being here for you. I'm glad you're getting something out of the posts. Day four was even more interesting. I'll probably post tomorrow as it is almost midnight.
HI nice day special occasion good to share and work for the HIV Aids Prevention
